Barolo is the foremost wine of Northern Italy, indeed known as the King of Wines. Very powerful, concentrated and long living, it is one of the most beautiful wines you will find. Made from the difficult to grow Nebbiolo grape, it is a light ruby and garnet colour with aromas of cherry, violets, mushroom, truffle, orange peel, forest floor and tar.
Barolo can come from different hillside vineyards, called cru, such as La Serra and Margheria, or be a blend of various single vineyard wines, such as Carobri. At its most basic level it is know just as Barolo.
