Chateau de Beaucastel is a wonderful wine from the Perrin family. It is also a wine of great pedigree, the business being started in 1549. So, they've had some time to get it right.

It is still run by the Perrin family, who took over the Chateau in 1909. They have a biodynamic philosophy and feel that the land is the most important aspect of creating a sustainable wine business. You can feel this care and attention in the wines, which are so vibrant and generous. Balance of texture, flavour, alcohol and tannin is key to the Beaucastel wines, making it a joy to drink any of their wines.

This Beaucastel is rich, creamy, spicy, sweet with fruit and very well balanced.

Chateauneuf du Pape is one of the most famous regions in wine today. This is well deserved. It produces consistently wonderful wines of great purity and hedonistic joy. 

With over 8,000 acres under vine it is the largest appellation in the Rhone valley and the only part of the Southern Rhone which can really match both Cote Rotie and Hermitage, which are in the Northern Rhone.  

The wines are mainly (94%) red and are largely full-bodied with a rich texture and spicy character. They can also have a beautiful garrigue aroma (a French term relating to the smell of dry herbs as they are crunched under foot) and a real sense of place.

There are 18 varieties of grape that are permitted in a CdP blend: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre and Cinsaut are the most important. But this really is the land of great Grenache, which needs heat to ripen fully, as does Mourvedre. Syrah, on the other hand is truly more at home in the cooler Northern Rhone, and care must be taken to not let it over-ripen.

Pair with red meat, game meat or any rich, brooding dishes. 

CdP is a versatile wine and can really accommodate most foods!

"Very dark crimson. Vibrant colour is almost black. Black olives and smoked bacon. Extremely vibrant on the nose too. Luscious ripe fruit on the front palate almost completely covers the tannins. Really quite remarkable. What a different wine from the 2011! Sumptuous. (Drink between 2016-2032)"


As a young wine this could do with several hours in the decanter.

Delivery Charges

Delivery costs £12.50 on orders under £60, and £9.95 on orders between £60-£100.

Orders over £100 are delivered FREE of charge!

How We Deliver

We aim to deliver all orders within 2-3 business days, for items in stock. If you are in London and order before 11am you will normally get next day delivery. Outside of London, order before 11am to get 2 day delivery.

Within London we use specialist wine delivery vans. The drivers have all been trained specially in the safe delivery of wine.

Outside of London we use couriers. In order to ensure safe delivery of your wine all of the deliveries are packed in inflatable wine pouches, ensuring their safety.

If you have any problems with your delivery - such as a broken bottle - please take a picture and send it to us the same day so we can deal with this. This is a rare occurrence, but if it were to happen we would replace the bottle as soon as possible.

If you want us to leave your wine somewhere safe please leave a note in the shipping instructions section of your order.

Where We Deliver To

We deliver to all areas of England and Wales.

We deliver to Scotland at our normal rate, except for the Highlands where we may contact you regarding an extra delivery fee before processing the order - this is likely to be around £35.

We can deliver to the Isle of Man, Channel Islands or to Northern or Southern Ireland or Scottish Islands, however this will be charged at a higher rate. Please contact us at hookandford@gmail.com to find out more.
