FAQ

What methods of payment does Hook & Ford accept?

You can pay using all major credit cards and PayPal.

Will I get an email confirmation of my order?

Yes, within moments you will get an email detailing your order.

Can I cancel my order?

If you cancel it quickly, before the order is processed then we can cancel it before it is dispatched. We generally try to process all orders ASAP, so if you do wish to cancel the order please let us know as soon as you can. If you receive the order and need to return it there will be a charge for this. Please contact us to find out how to return your wine.

What is your shipping policy?

Orders placed by 11am will generally be shipped the same day. These will be shipped on a 24 hour service to London and a 48 hour service to the rest of the country, however these often still arrive the next day. Please leave us comments on how you wish the delivery to proceed if you are not in - ie a neighbour or a safe place.

Can I order wine that is out of stock?

Yes, you can. However, please be aware that there will be a delay in this being dispatched as we will first source the wine. Please allow 7-10 working days for delivery, however, we will keep you updated with specific delivery windows as and when we know. If you do pre-order a wine and we cannot source it, we will offer you an alternative that we think would be a good comparable wine.

How do you store your wines?

All of our wines are kept in a state-of-the-art facility, underground with full temperature and humidity control. As was written in a recent publication:

“To say this is no ordinary warehousing facility is an affront to modesty; a dedicated ‘show bunker’ has been adapted for use by clients wishing to host guests. It forms part of the unique Fonthill Estate Vaults experience, which can also extend to the use of a soon to be renovated guest house on site. Clients renting entire bunkers are encouraged to customise the entranceway with their own signage, as well as landscape the surrounding gardens. Sheep, grazing the lawns, complete the postcard effect.

But let’s not forget: these are ammunition bunkers. Five foot thick concrete walls and thick steel doors, all buried into the hillside, ensure the ambient temperature hovers in the optimum wine storage range of 10-15 degrees Celsius all year round. You can rest peacefully in the knowledge your wine is ageing perfectly whilst simultaneously being protected from air raids (at least of a nostalgic vintage).

Fonthill Estate Vaults is a unique cross pollination between the vineyard experience and that of an expertly run distribution facility. With fastidious attention to detail, high end security and knowledgeable staff, there really is nothing else like it”.
