Exceptional Wine

Hook and Ford

Bodegas Pintia, Toro 2011

Jancis Robinson gives this 17/20:

100% Tinta de Toro (tempranillo), 12 months in new oak, 70% French, 30% US. Inky colour of elderberry juice. Intense, ripe but not overripe black cherry and blackcurrant. Lots of sweet oak and chcocolate on the nose. Thick, thick texture but there’s juice in the middle. Sweetly oaked and generous. Purest of fresh dark fruit, needing time for the texture to become more refined. For lovers of oak. Still seems so young and undeveloped, though the tannins are not aggressive, just thick. (Drink between 2017-2025)
