Dog Point Sauvignon Blanc 2016

We currently have 13 in stock.

A wonderfully refreshing Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc from some of the oldest vines in the area. Beautifully scented, fresh and vibrant with a smooth texture, it is perfect with seafood dishes or just to refresh you as you sit in the garden.

Jancis Robinson gives this 17/20:

A small proportion of ambient yeast. Lees aged but unoaked. Just released. From the get-go there is excellent balance between the smoky quality of Section 94 (but much less extreme) and the green fruited character of the variety when not picked underripe or with too much focus on passionfruit-like thiols. It tastes dry even with the 3.7 g/l residual and this, together with the fruit sweetness, balances the crisp acidity. Herbal, smoky/flinty on the palate, combined with grapefruit tang and intensely mouth-watering and long. It's like a baby Section 94 but more accessible and probably able to please a wider audience. This is the sort of NZ Sauvignon I want to drink - more than one glass. With time in the glass it opens up to cassis leaf. Absolutely delicious and VGV.

Michael Cooper has given this 5/5 Stars:

This wine offers a clear style contrast to Section 94, Dog Point's complex, barrel-aged Sauvignon Blanc (see the Branded and Other White Wines section). Hand-harvested at several sites in the Wairau Valley, it is lees-aged in tanks but handled without oak. The classy 2016 vintage (5 stars) is highly scented, very fresh and vibrant. Weighty, it has searching, ripe grapefruit/lime flavours, firm acid spine and a dry (3 grams/litre of residual sugar), lasting finish. Highly concentrated and tightly structured, it's a very harmonious wine, arguably the best vintage yet
